“2022 HWANG IN YOUP 1st Fan Meeting in Jakarta” Press Conference

The rising star Hwang In Youp is visiting Indonesia for the first time with ‘2022 HWANG IN YOUP in Jakarta’ on 6th August 2022. Before the fan meeting, he greeted media and HIYILY (*the name of Hwang In Youp’s fans) through press conference. With a deep yet soft voice, Hwang In Youp greeted us in Bahasa Indonesia, “Halo, Indonesia. Aku Hwang In Youp, aku cinta kamu. (My name is Hwang In Youp. I Love You).”

For HIYILY who didn’t attend the press conference, we sorted out the Q&A session with Hwang in Youp below. Enjoy!

Q: This is your first time coming to Indonesia, what do you know about Indonesia or Jakarta?

This is my first time coming to Indonesia, I know very well that Indonesia is full of beautiful islands, and I am here to meet all of you. Nice to meet you.

Q: Indonesia is known for delicious culinary foods, is there any specific food that you want to try in Indonesia?

In Korea, Nasi Goreng is very popular, so I’ve tried it in Korea. Since I have arrived in Indonesia, I also want to try the original Nasi Goreng from Indonesia.

Q: Is there any special place in Indonesia that you would like to visit besides Jakarta?

I want to go to Bali, I have never been there before. If I have time, I want to go there.

Q: This is your first fan meeting, what do you anticipate?

Because this is my first fan meeting, I want to have fun and it’s also great to meet all of you here.

Q: Besides acting, Indonesian fans really like Inyoup’s voice. Will you sing at the fan meet later?

It’s a secret. But if you want me to sing, should I try it?

Q: In ‘The Sound of Magic’ drama, you played the guitar, but can you actually or do you have an expert on musical instrument and want to be a master on an instrument to show it to fans?

In ‘The Sound of Magic’, I learned to play the guitar. I actually can play drum a bit, so since I can play a little bit, I will learn it. Maybe for the next fan meeting, I can play the drum too.

Q: Usually, in the fan meeting there is an interaction with fans, will there be a session like that in Indonesia?

Yes!

Q: Throughout your career, were there any special messages from your fans that were memorable?

There are many messages from fans, but one of the most memorable messages for me was, “Can I hug you?” Actually, when a fan asked me if I could hug them, I was a bit surprised but that’s what really impressed me.

Q: When you have free time, what do you usually do?

I really like enjoying views, so I like to drive while enjoying the scenery. Last night, I saw from the hotel, that Jakarta looks really beautiful. So I stare at it for a very long time. I’m really proud to be here because I can be in a very beautiful place like Indonesia.

Q: About the ‘Why Her?’ drama, how do you feel about acting with seniors?

It’s only been 4 years since my acting debut, so I was very honored to be able to act with seniors. I think that someday, I also want to be a good senior like them.

Q: ‘Why Her?’ is your first drama as the male lead, what was the most memorable?

Kiss scenes! Because it was my first kiss scene in the drama, it means a lot to me, and turns out that the fans really like it because the scene is very beautiful.

Q: Indonesian fans really like ‘True Beauty’, in your opinion, what makes this drama so popular?

First of all, the webtoon is already popular all over the world. Before I played the role of Seojun, I know that the character is really cool. I am very grateful to be able to act as a cool character like Han Seo Jun. Thanks to Cha Eun-Woo and Moon Ga Young, we can create beautiful scenes together. I thank you (fans) for that too.

Q: You’ve tried various genres like romantic comedy, musical, and melodrama. What kind of acting do you want to try in the future?

I’m thinking hard for the next project, I will work hard so that my next work can make you proud.

Q: The last question, there are a lot of fans who can and can’t attend the fan meeting today, can you give them a message?

Thank you for taking your busy time. I thank you for your support and love even though we are far apart. For those who couldn’t attend the fan meeting, I will try my best so that later there will be another opportunity to hold fan meeting here (Indonesia).
