[FEATURE] Meet the Charming, AI Robot Pianist: Seo Kang Joon

“The rule is to hug you if you cry.”

From the man behind this famous line in the hit Korean drama Are You Human, Seo Kang Joon who played the role of Nam Shin, is coming to Manila! Filipino fans and supporters are all hyped up to meet the actor in person, with their hearts racing, wanting to meet him up close and personal.

But, who exactly is Seo Kang Joon?

Born October 12, 1993, standing at 183 cm (wow that’s tall!) Kang Joon is a member of the group 5urprise which debuted September 2013 with the song From My Heart.

Before his debut, he worked as a part-time model and auditioned for Actor’s League – a program by Fantagio in search for new actors, and successfully passed. Why wouldn’t he, with his visuals and talents? Right?

Seo Kang Joon started his acting career with a supporting role in the drama The Suspicious Housekeeper and later on got his first major role in Cunning Single Lady.

He is also notably known for being a part of the variety show Roommate with GOT7’s Jackson, Actor Lee Dong Wook and more where he revealed that he did not have a cellphone. (Don’t be sad girls, Lee Dong Wook helped him buy one for himself!)

Kang Joon had his breakout role when he played second lead alongside Park Hae Jin and Kim Go Eun in the hit college romance drama Cheese in the Trap. Seo Kang Joon played the role of Baek In Ho, a dropped-out student who is good in playing the piano and is lost in his life. But when he met Hong Seol (Kim Go Eun), light and hope somehow peeked into his life. With hopes of winning the leading lady’s heart, his romantic and sweet gestures got fans falling for his character in no time!

With his rising popularity, he gained a lot of attention in 2018 when he portrayed the role of a rich heir and an AI robot named Nam Shin and Nam Shin III respectively. He won the hearts of millions not only with his acting but also his singing when he lend his voice for the soundtrack of the drama Are You Human titled “You Are My Love.”

Seo Kang Joon won Excellence Award and Best Couple Award with his leading lady Go Seung Yeon for the said drama. Congratulations! Yay!

His recent drama with Esom, aired last year September – The Third Charm – showed the different sides and feelings of falling in love from the first meeting, second, until the third charm. Kang Joon played the role of On Joon Young, a nerdy college student who met Lee Young Jae (Esom) on a group blind date. The two met for the second time when they were 27, then for the third charm, when they were 32.

After meeting Seo Kang Joon, who would want to miss out on meeting this young and charming actor? Not only can he act, but he can sing, dance and play the piano as well. Multitalented indeed!
