2NE1 Tops Billboard’s 2015 Girl Group Week
Girl group 2NE1 once again showed their immense popularity, not only in Korea but also among music listeners around the world, by winning the recent poll by popular music portal site Billboard.
Earlier this month Billboard held the 2015 Girl Group’s reader poll to celebrate their second annual Girl Group Week this year. The poll covers lists including biggest songs, most iconic groups, most underrated singes and best music videos from all-female pop collection with 8 categories in total.
2NE1 won two of the categories, ‘Favorite Girl Group Album’ and Most Promising New Girl Group. In ‘Favorite Girl Group Album’ 2NE1’s album ‘Crush’ beat Little Mix and Fifth Harmony by amassing 32.5% of the total votes. 2NE1 also won the ‘Most Promising New Girl Group’ after receiving 45% of the votes against Little Mix and Fifth Harmony, signalling high levels of anticipation from U.S. fans for their future comeback.
Meanwhile, CL will be raising the profile of her group by releasing her first solo album in the United States this Spring, under the management of Scooter Braun.
