iQIYI International Global Ambassador Chen Zheyuan Set the Crowd for iQIYI Starship 2025 Malaysia Event

The iQIYI Starship 2025 Malaysia event wrapped up with overwhelming success in Kuala Lumpur, where iQIYI International Global Ambassador Chen Zheyuan delivered a powerful presence that captivated media and fans alike. The afternoon press conference drew over a hundred Malaysian media representatives, while the evening fan showcase at Pavilion KL packed the venue with spectators across four floors.

Making his first Malaysian appearance as the iQIYI International Global Ambassador, Chen Zheyuan shared that he was moved by the warm welcome he received upon arrival.

“I was exhausted when I landed, but seeing everyone’s energy instantly made everything worthwhile,” he said.

During the press conference, Chen discussed his ambassadorial role, noting his wish to introduce Chinese culture to global audiences through quality storytelling.

“The beauty of watching dramas lies in discovering the stories and cultures of different places. That diversity is what attracts viewers from around the world,” he explained.

He also revealed that this was why he chose to become an actor.

“Acting allows me to live different lives through each role. I’m very careful when selecting scripts—I need to be moved first, so I can pass that sincerity to the audience.”

When speaking about his role in Fated Hearts, Chen said he grew alongside his character — from a bright, carefree youth to a sharp, decisive prince.

“I give my all to every role, hoping my performance can touch people’s hearts.”

He further emphasised the mission of the Starship initiative:

“Good works transcend borders. That is the purpose of the Starship Project—to bring outstanding content to audiences everywhere.”

iQIYI Malaysia Reported Strong Growth in Chinese-Language Content

In his remarks, Dinesh Ratnam, Senior Managing Director for iQIYI Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, highlighted significant growth in Chinese drama viewership in Malaysia across all ethnic groups over the past year.

He noted that Google’s local search trends also showed an upward trajectory in “Chinese drama”–related searches, illustrating the expanding global influence of Chinese content.

“The Starship Project is one of our key globalisation initiatives. Through immersive live events, star interactions and content promotions, we have deepened international audiences’ appreciation of Chinese dramas. We were delighted to host Chen Zheyuan in Malaysia—this truly reflected iQIYI’s commitment to the Malaysian market,” he said.

iQIYI Malaysia also announced that Fated Hearts received the title of ‘Most Watched Chinese Drama on iQIYI Malaysia 2025’, with Dinesh presenting a bouquet to Chen to recognise his outstanding performance.

Evening Showcase Drew Massive Crowds — Chen Zheyuan’s “Aku Cinta Pada Mu” Stole the Night

The evening iQIYI Starship 2025 Malaysia showcase at Pavilion KL drew a massive turnout. As part of the exclusive VIP experience, over 300 VIP members gained access to the Special Zone, where they enjoyed immersive content highlights and a rare close-up viewing of Chen on stage.

Opening acts by Malaysian singer Layla Sania and Chinese singer and iQIYI micro-drama actress Yenny (Fu Yaning) ignited the atmosphere and set the tone for the evening.

Chen made his entrance to thunderous screams, greeting the crowd with a heartfelt: “Aku Cinta Pada Mu!”, instantly sending the venue into another wave of cheers.

Throughout the night, Chen posed, waved, and acknowledged the audience from every angle, ensuring no one felt left out.

During his on-stage conversation, he also shared an update on his health, mentioning that he plans to undergo treatment for his collarbone injury during his upcoming break.

A Royal Appearance & Heartfelt Fan Moments

Selangor Princess Tengku Zatashah also graced the event to present Chen with a gift. She playfully asked him which Malaysian food he wished to bring home, and he chose “Cham”:

“It looks delicious, and its name sounds like my English name — Chen!”

A touching moment unfolded when the big screen played a fan-made video from his official fan club, culminating in a full-venue singalong of Tong Hua (Fairy Tale)

Chen also fulfilled audience requests, read heartfelt letters, and joined Malaysian artists and influencers—including Layla, KoeYeet, Alex, and Ashh Ahmad—for a series of stage games. After losing several rounds, he cheerfully completed his playful penalties, striking a set of adorable triple poses that sent the crowd screaming.

Before stepping offstage, he delighted audiences by saying:

“Jom Mamak!”

A Rising Star Across Southeast Asia

With standout performances in Fated Hearts, The White Olive Tree and other hit series, Chen Zheyuan emerged as one of the most promising young actors of his generation. His versatility and natural charisma earned him a growing regional fan base, particularly in Southeast Asia.

Malaysian audiences, drawn to his sincerity and youthful charm, remained among his most dedicated supporters.
