GETTING TO KNOW MORE ABOUT 1MILLION, A TO Z OF THE TALENTED K-POP DANCE WORLD CLASS
As D-DAY of “THE BEAT OF K-DANCE with 1MILLION” held by The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, together with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) at Main Atrium KOREA 360 Jakarta started. The event kicked off with MOU signing by Lia Kim (Co-Founder of 1MILLION Dance Studio) and Lee Gi Haun (Regional Director of KOCCA Indonesia). This moment symbolized a shared hope that KOCCA Indonesia will continue to create platforms for K-Pop Dance to gain wider recognition in line with the ever-growing K-Pop phenomenon in Indonesia. Through these efforts, talented Indonesian youth will have more opportunities to experience the wonders of dance in the future.
The program continued with a press conference featuring all five members of 1MILLION Dance Studio. The introduction session started with Yechan, followed by Lia Kim, Kooyoung Back, Hyewon, and K Chan. Each member greeted the media in Indonesian, creating a friendly and localized atmosphere that delighted everyone present. During this session, the audience was invited to get to know 1MILLION, a group of world-class K-Pop dancers on a deeper level. They shared their thoughts on everything from A to Z about the K-Dance world, their sources of inspiration throughout their careers as dancers, and the advice they would like to give aspiring young dancers with big dreams in the K-Dance scene.
Lia Kim encouraged the next generation of dancers and choreographers to “just do it,” emphasizing that pursuing a career in dance is very promising, especially alongside the thriving K-Pop industry. She also noted that being a dancer can be a form of personal branding, opening doors to collaborations in commercial advertisements, as well as opportunities to serve as judges and mentors on TV shows.
Kooyoung Back, also known as Mihawk, stressed the importance of perseverance, reminding everyone that hard work never betrays the result. Hyewon added that it is crucial to keep an ambitious spirit when pursuing one’s goals as a dancer. According to K Chan, the K-Dance industry is deeply connected to collaboration, so young dancers should never be afraid to try new things and add their own unique color to the journey. Meanwhile, Yechan reminded everyone of the importance of never forgetting the reason why they first started dancing.
Whoa, there were so many inspiring insights to take away from this session, Jjangers! Stay tuned for the next exciting events.
