Byeon Woo Seok Who Always Wants to Give It All for Fans and For His Works

The actor who took Korea by storm and becoming everyone’s latest obsession, Byeon Woo Seok, visited Singapore and greeted the press just a few hours before his fan meeting.

Having his busy schedule, the actor shared, opening the press conference, that he has rested and slept really well to prepare to meet Singapore Tong Tongs (Byeon Woo Seok fans). “I understand that they (fans) have spent their time, effort, and money to come and meet me, so I don’t want it to become a waste.” Known as an avid fan of food, Byeon Woo Seok shared he wanted to try the famous Chilli Crab and Chicken Rice in Singapore. He heard that it’s a must-try for everyone who visited Singapore and revealed that he as a friend who lives in Singapore gave him a long list of recommendations because Singapore is more than just about Chilli Crab. “There are around 10 places to visit? It also has the place where I can find good pasta and hamburgers.“

When asked about his latest obsession, the actor shared as he’s currently on his Asian tour, he’s been into exploring more cultures, “I also found out there’re differences in every country on how people show their affection, so that’s something that I’m very obsessed to explore more these days.” He also shared that he always brings his allergy medicine, as he has an allergy and Theraflu, which he took whenever he feels like he’s going to catch the flu, during his tour, to maintain his health.

More into Byeon Woo Seok, he shared on how he could get and keep up on his positive energy, which fans love through his answers on every interview he had in the past. “I believe that when it comes to result, it’s not something I can control, it’s really out of my control. That’s why I personally think the process is more important, how much effort I put in to achieve the best result that I can. That mindset helps me to keep being positive.”

Wants to be called Rom-Com genius, Byeon Woo Seok shared that actually he was nervous at that time he received the questions and just said that answer. “ I don’t think I’m a rom-com genius but I will be very grateful if everyone calls me that. In order to become one, I think I need to do my best as possible to be called the rom-com genius.” Continuing about his acting, the model turned actor said there’s no definite answer on his dream role, “Before I act as Ryu Sun Jae in “Lovely Runner“, I was into a lot of different genres such as action and fantasy, but after I met Sun Jae, it change my perspective a lot. It’s the first time I got emotionally interested to the character. In short, I don’t want to choose my next work according to certain genre or type of character, of course I personally love romantic comedy so there’s higher chance that I choose that, but I really don’t want to limit my self to that.”

Byeon Woo Seok also share on how he do the emotional scene, “The first thing I do is to take attention to the character I’m interacting with and I deeply study how the character feeling, what’s the she’s going through and identify what kind of situation she’s in. I try to put my self into that character’s (the counterpart) shoes. That helps me to better express my self into my own role.” Apart from Ryu Sun Jae, Byeon Woo Seok choose his role in “20th Century Girl” as the other memorable project for him. This project help him to overcome his camera phobia and past trauma that he had during that time.

The question continues with a funny one, the media ask about his intention taking picture with a watermelon during his visit to Taipei (Tong Tongs must be remembering this!). He was surprised to see the size of the watermelon, “I’ve never seen a watermelon that huge. I love watermelon and I happened to visit a supermarket, I was amazed and impressed to see the huge size.“

Back to his acting, we must have been remember that Byeon Woo Seok often played a role that either have sad ending or a tragic ending, but now “Lovely Runner” defying that with a beautiful happy ending. “Yes I acknowledge that most of the character I played more on like pursuing one-sided love and mostly didn’t end well. Finally in Lovely Runner, it was a happy and beautiful ending of course, but as actor Byeon Wooseok, as I received the script for the last episode, I was a little sad, because it was a project I adore. I remember calling the scriptwriter about this and have a long talk on how I feel sad even though the story has the happy ending.”

Talking about his co-star, Kim Hye Yoon, the actor shared some funny episode he has while filming together, “Actually, there’s nothing particularly difficult as I remember (while filming with Kim Hye Yoon), but I remember the scene in Baek In Hyuk house with Hye Yoon. The house was an old house and the ceiling was very low, so of course the door was not too tall. I remember how everyone talk that I was as tall as the door.”

Following the success of “Lovely Runner”, Byeon Woo Seok is very happy that he got to travel for the fan meeting and meeting his fans worldwide, and he find it fascinating to have his own press conference with the local media. “Summer Letter”, the fan meeting that bring Byeon Woo Seok and fans together, he recalled that he got a lot of fan letter and received even more during the tour. “I feel that every interaction I had with fans, is like a letter to me.“

Just like the lyrics in “Sudden Shower“, we do believe that Byeon Woo Seok is a gift for Tong Tongs. Responding this, the actor give a heartfelt message for Tong Tongs, “Just like Tong Tongs who always tell me that I’m a gift to them, like wise, Tong Tongs are such a wonderful gift to me. Till this moment, the journey I had wasn’t easy, there’re lot of difficult times. But I can say it confidently that I did my best and I always had my Tong Tongs beside me giving their support and love. Thanks to that it was the driving force that makes me keep going until today and to the next step I’ll have.“

Wrapping up the press conference, Byeon Woo Seok thank media for coming to the press conference despite the heavy downpour since the morning. He felt surreal to meet each media from each country and it feels unreal, but at the same time, he felt it was refreshing and grateful that the media had taking interest on him (no, we’re actually thankful that we can discover you and to help you shines even brighter!) and write about his fanmeet.
