The Present Show In Jakarta: Ahn Hyo Seop Reacts to His Indonesian name ‘Mas Ucup’ and Expresses Warm Gratitude for Fans

Ahn Hyo Seop marked his first-ever visit to Indonesia for ‘2023 AHN HYO SEOP ASIA TOUR <THE PRESENT SHOW> IN JAKARTA’ that was held on September 9, 2023 at The Kasablanka Hall. 

Although the actor has already returned to South Korea, Ahn Hyo Seop left with a local name: Mas Ucup.

Indonesian PaulJjak (Ahn Hyo Seop’s fan club name), who have been waiting for Ahn Hyo Seop’s visit for a long time, has a special local nickname for their favorite actor namely Mas Ucup. The MC explained the reason he was named Ucup because ‘Hyo Seop’ sounds like ‘Yusup’, but to make it feel more intimate, it became ‘Ucup’. Meanwhile, ‘Mas’ means older brother in Javanese. After hearing his local name, the actor responded, “(The name is) so cute.” He said the pronunciation of ‘Mas Ucup’ itself sounds cute and he loves it. That day, Ahn Hyo Seop approved Mas Ucup as his Indonesian local name. “Saya Mas Ucup,” said the actor that thrilled the crowd.

Ahn Hyo Seop spent a fun-filled fan meeting with various delight corners yet turned out to be a deep talk session. The actor was asked what tips he uses to get rid of boredom and he commented, “Sometimes, I feel empty or unmotivated. In that situation, I would give meaning to something that I previously considered as a normal thing. I believe in living by choice, so I believe you can change your life by your choices.” He continued with the words that can encourage him, “‘지금은 살자’ (Let’s live for the present), because the happiness can only be enjoyed now.”

Meeting Indonesian fans for the first time, Ahn Hyo Seop prepared a special gift for a few selected lucky fans. In one of the corners ‘PaulJjak Mission’, Ahn Hyo Seop was given a mission to pose a boyfriend material concept and wink selfies. The fans were able to see the cute side of Ahn Hyo Seop who shyly winked twice. “I think I’ve gotten used to wink,” said the actor, making the audience laugh. 

Growing as an actor with the fans’ support, Ahn Hyo Seop shared how the fans meant to him, “You are the reason for my existence.” He continued, “I never thought I would be able to meet you in person like this. I have to live more diligently so I can meet you again. I promise we can meet again.”

Everyone thought the show was over, but Ahn Hyo Seop surprised fans by making an entrance from the side of the venue and walking around to greet his fans. Ahn Hyo Seop who looks stunning in a white shirt, black blazer and blue jeans smiles widely and waves his hand at the fans. While “Thank You for the Memories” an OST from “Dr. Romantic” season 3 being played as BGM, the fans have a chance to interact with their favorite actor closer.

As soon as he arrived on stage, he asked everyone to take a photo together. The moment he’s ready to pose, instead of taking a photo, the actor was surprised by the video project prepared by fans. After watching the video immensely, the actor expressed gratitude for his fans with teary eyes, 

“Thanks to you, I have the courage and hope for life. Sometimes I feel small and helpless, but thank you for giving me a reason to live. I wanted to give encouragement to everyone, but I am the one who’s happy here. Actually, today I feel a bit down because there were several mistakes (during the performance). But I will work more diligently so we can meet again.”

The 2.5-hour fan meeting came to an end. As K-drama fans like everyone, we have been watching Ahn Hyo Seop’s growth as an actor through his dramas for the past years. On the day we met Ahn Hyo Seop who is a hard-working actor with a lot of talents and charms, we were able to see another side of him who has a positive outlook on life and values the fans’ support which makes us fall for him even more.
