Was TXT in Jakarta Only a SWEET MIRAGE?

"Jakarta MOA(s) 최고" - SOOBIN

TXT have done it yet again! Within the time span of a year, TOMORROW BY TOGETHER (TXT) have graced us with their amazing performances that leaves their fans (MOAs) captivated and wanting for more. The night of 9 August 2023 in Beach City International Stadium will definitely be a core memory for both the members and their fans.

With a venue capacity upgrade compared to their previous Jakarta performance, MOAs were treated with spectacular stages and acts. The cheers started way before the group members stepped out with the audience singing along to the video playing and preparing themselves for the group to finally go on stage.

With Blue Hour as their first song of the night, the members of TXT created a dreamy atmosphere that can be felt throughout the venue. The boys then greeted Indonesian MOAs in English after a performance of Can’t We Just Keep the Monster Alive. It was interesting to see the entire group speaking English throughout the concert to connect better with their fans. That definitely was worth mentioning as everyone learning a different language would be able to relate to, speaking a second language fluently in front of a large audience requires skill and bravery.

The next segment of the concert required a lot of stamina and training, as seen from the members on stage. At one point they were singing while dancing non-stop for four minutes. During the last song of this segment, Cat & Dog, the audience can be heard barking along (yes, barking) to the song. TXT then mentioned that the song was specifically put into the setlist for this tour because they know MOAs really loved it during their previous tour, ACT: LOVE SICK. This prompted the members to ask the audience to sing along to a part of the song with them. The energy from the audience was palpable with literally everyone participating in the singalong.

One thing for sure that can be seen throughout the night is that the members definitely love their fans. The interactions between TXT and MOAs were endless. Every time the members had a chance to speak up, they brought up how much they loved the fans non-stop. You can definitely feel the love from the members for their fans. They interacted with the audience as much as they could, including making a lightstick wave with the audience and teaching them dance challenges.

TXT opened the next segment with their hit song, Run Away, which was then followed by a short solo dance section by HUENING KAI. You gotta give it to BIGHIT though, their stage production and design took our breath away with the fireworks during Can’t You See Me and the car prop that was brought out during the end of 0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You) and the beginning of LO$ER=LO♡ER.

The videos that were played in between segments when TXT was not talking were translated to Indonesian which definitely meant a lot to Indonesian MOAs. Their love for MOAs did not stop there. They also included Opening Sequence onto the setlist (which included a short dance segment that drove the crowd wild), due to the fact that they knew the fans would appreciate having that song on the setlist. There was a part before the song where YEONJUN danced alone on the extended stage but mentioned that he didn’t feel lonely dancing alone as there were Jakarta MOAs in front of him, cheering him on.

Anti-Romantic and Eternally were next on the setlist, which was then followed by a video before going into Good Boy Gone Bad, Tinnitus (Wanna be a rock) and Devil by the Window. The fire effects that were played during Eternally supported the dance moves as the firework ripple enhanced the performance, creating an incredible stage that did not disappoint. The dance breaks scattered throughout Eternally also kept the audience on their toes. TAEHYUN also teased the fans with lifting his shirt half way during Tinnitus (Wanna be a rock) which in turn made MOAs scream.

There was a surprise song that was included in the setlist. It was the first time the members sang Do It Like That during their own concert. The song was initially released with Jonas Brothers but they managed to make a TXT version for their concerts which delighted the fans as there were a lot of them waiting to hear it live for the first time. YEONJUN ended up teasing the fans while they danced along to Do It Like That and said “Kalian imut banget” in Indonesian. BEOMGYU also mentioned that he was already happy just looking at MOAs dancing to the challenge.

It wasn’t only the Do It Like That challenge that they did, TXT also invited MOAs to do the Happy Fools dance challenge and taught the audience how to do the challenge. The audience were then able to dance along to the song as they sang it on stage.

That brought us to the end of the concert, and before they close the night with Sugar Rush Ride, the members did aegyo with the word ‘enak’. The members’ interaction with one another was interesting to see during the closing remarks as TAEHYUN took off half his jacket with BEOMGYU and YEONJUN joining in to tease him. TAEHYUN also said “aku cinta kalian” which I was sure will be a core memory for Indonesian MOAs. SOOBIN then closed off the closing remarks while thanking MOAs and that they will always be there to sing for their fans.

After Sugar Rush Ride, you would’ve thought that it was over. But they went back on stage for an encore with Farewell Neverland, Blue Spring and Our Summer. The song Blue Spring was never officially released and was only sung in concerts as a fan song. After Our Summer, the fans sang along to Our Summer and raised banners with the writing “Underneath the milky way, there is us, promising our eternity” which HUENING KAI read off and told the fans that he would be able to sleep peacefully thanks to MOAs

Before they went off stage, the members went around the stage from stage left to center stage, all the way to stage right, and then along the extended stage to say thank you. They were very sincere and we were able to see how thankful they were throughout the time they took to say thank you and good bye, which also can be seen through their facial expressions. The members also mentioned that they definitely made a lot of memories in Jakarta and that Jakarta MOAs were the best!

Many thanks to iME Indonesia for the invitation and kudos to yet another amazing show! Definitely looking forward to more.
