[KU Report] Exclusive Interview With J Morning

J Morning has recently rocked various stages upon their arrival in Manila, Philippines. They have just finished more than half of their mall shows and have now set to give a big performance in SM North Edsa – The Block.

Before their show in SM North Edsa – The Block, KoreanUpdates was lucky enough to meet the members of J Morning backstage to ask a few questions. The members answered the questions as best as they could. They even tried their best to answer the questions in English!

The members consists of Ssol (main vocal), Hyun (vocals and violin) and Mingyu (guitar). The group is accompanied by sub members Taehoon (bass) and Jim Bum (drums).

Q: How was your group formed and who came up with the name J Morning?

Ssol: The members and I met in July, so we picked the letter J in July. We chose morning because like the rising star in the morning, we want to rise in the world and we also want to be bright like how it is during the morning. So with this, we made our name J Morning!

Q: How are you inspired to create music?

Ssol: Our group thinks that listening to music is very important. We also think that watching other artists perform is important as well. J Morning has skills in listening and performing. I think that we are so cool! Like the animal chameleon, we have many colors and we are a cool band, I think!

Q: Who are specific artists that you look up to?

Ssol: Music is our life. J Morning has got the power and the music, so we will give you the power and pleasure to encourage you all! We want to be great musicians like our favorite Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson’s music gives us hope. So to be like him, we will give our best efforts at all times!

Q: What do you think about the music industry in korea?

Mingyu: I think Kpop and idols are very much loved by fans. Most idols are very young. They have been trained by companies at a very young age to become stars. Sometimes, it takes them 6-7 years before they become stars. I think they are doing great!

Q: How is your experience in the Philippines so far? What do you think of the Philippines?

Ssol: I think that everything is very perfect! Filipinos have so many love and their smiles are very pretty. I think that though our appearances and language are different, we are one in music. Also I think that the Philippines’ happiness is the best!

Mingyu: While doing our concert we met many kinds of people. All those kinds of people are so pure and pretty, especially the children. So cute! So I am so happy to meet many kinds of people.

Q: What are your future plans as a group?

Manager: The group will be focusing on a world tour first [as an indie k-rock band] then they will focus on their album.

Q: Any message to your fans from the Philippines?

Mingyu: Hello Philippines! I am so happy to come here! We are very happy that we have many concerts here and have the chance meet many kinds of people and eatdelicious food! We will give to you an amazing performance! Thank you for watching us!

Hyun: Thank you for inviting us Philippines! I love Philippines!

Ssol: I want to enjoy music together! I love Philippines and I love Filipinos! I love love love! Mahal kita (I love you)! Salamat po (Thank you)! Kamshahamnida (Thank you) Philippines!

Hoon: It is our first time here in the Philippines and there are so many great places here in Manila. I have met a lot of beautiful people!

Ssol: Yeah! He is very cute (to Hoon). He is my brother.

Hoon: I want to come back again in the future! Thank you so much for your love and support!
